If you could read Latvian you would see that general sentiment here has been that SAF Tehnika has been considerably overvalued ever since the IPO. The latest negative news just accelerated the long-term downtrend. I believe that quite high proportion of institutional holdings is almost the only factor that keeps this stock from falling apart completely.
Those are just my thoughts. |

I've been observing the recent fall of SAF1R stock prices from 6,9 to 5. Hopefully, I did not buy it. ;)
But, getting back to the point, does anybody know why the company has such high inventory levels? For me it is a sign of having problems with selling it's goods, but perhaps there is an other explanation to the fact? I know that the company is somewhat of an intermediary, that is it mostly takes care of installation of microwave equipment, rather than the production, which is outsourced.
Does anybody have an idea how long an instalation of an microwave system takes? Perhaps it can explain the high inventories? |

Usually, when you do sell a Microwave links, you need keep a spare parts in your stock, for example radio links have outdoor units, indoor units, and there is a numeruos frequency bands available, and each band then is subdivided in subchannels - so you need keep a stock for 18GHz you need 23 GHz, you 38 GHz, and so, since link usually are at cirtical backbone applications, and then spare parts should be shipped immediatelly. But I do not think this is a case for such a stocks, rememmber a Nortel's building inventories before the crash... |

to my knowledge, at least some few years earlier they had quite advanced R&D and testing facilities locally. i'm not shure how much (if any) outsourcing they do.
but if they could overcome their current "difficulties", well.. good for them. and us. ;) |

2kvaksa: I found the information about the outsourcing company does in the Hansabank research report: "The company outsources part of production, and focuses on research and development and the final assembly." In addition, the share of property, plant,... in assets seems quite low, even considering depreciation.
2Seller of Smiles: We shall see how the situation develops. For now I'll wait for the yearly statement with more up to date data. I'm highly interested in the financial results of the higher freqency wares, which weren't profitable in the past. |

Nē nu pilnīgs vāks. Kā jūtas lielie akcionāri, kad cena no 12 Ls janvāra beigās nobrauc līdz nedaudz virs 5 Ls šodien. Un galvenais, ka nav kam iegrūst tās akcijas! Izsaku līdzjūtību.
Man viens paziņa, kas nenodarbojās ar akciju tirdzniecību, bet tagad ieguvis palielu naudu no NI pārdošanas, domāja kur ieguldīt un vairākkārt norādīja uz spēcīgo kritumu un par visām varēm gribēja izspiest ieteikumu pirkt, jo tālāk taču neesot kur krist un tūlīt varot gaidīt pieaugumu.
Nē tad jau tiešām labāk pirkt DPĶ. |

kad pie IPO mēs to lhv forumā vēl toreiz nosaucām par SAFari, un bļaustījāmies ka razvods, bija daudz augsprātīgu komentu kā šis:

...bet izskatās, ka iepriekšējie īpašnieki IPO laikā savas akcijas pārdeva īstajā brīdī par augstāko cenu.  Un viens no lielākajiem 'iegrābējiem' man liekas ir Hansabankas fonds. |

- SAF Tehnika announced preliminary results for Financial Year 2006/2007. 4Q FY 06/07 revenues were weak: €3.5m (-33.7% yoy). Last quarter net income was €-1m (compared to quarterly net income of €0.92m in previous FY). Though company has not yet published quarterly report, we expect the negative results to come from increased cost base (from increased production capacity) accompanied with poor sales figures.
- As mentioned in our previous report, company’s sales are highly volatile due to the nature of business. Two large tenders in India have had significant delays and have negatively affected results.
- We can see worrying changes for the company in the competitive environment. Firstly the telecommunication networks market is moving towards turnkey solutions. As SAF is providing only minor part or the total network solutions, it solely is unable to offer turnkey solutions. We see it increasingly complicated for them to compete in large tenders. Global competitors like Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens are able to cross-subsidize their products in complex tenders and therefore eliminate the price advantage of SAF.
- Secondly, the market is moving towards longer payment schedules on all markets (including developing and price sensitive markets like Latin America or Africa) which is a limiting factor for smaller companies.
- Management has implemented successful cost cutting plan, which has reduced labour costs of this FY and will come into effect fully in the first quarter of next FY.
- Current market situation for SAF Tehnika is less favourable than it was half a year ago. Meanwhile the strengths of the company (strong management, high flexibility and price advantage) have not changed. If the company is profitably able to increase sales in market segments where price is advantage, we could expect quick recovery within next FY. As the company has announced only sales and net income figures which greatly vary from historical performance, we will not issue target price nor recommendation at this point.
