As is the high put-to-call ratio of 2.2 on the QQQQ’s, which indicates that the fear is overdone and we’re overdue for a bounce. “Should we get confirmation of an uptrend (an uptick following the doji formation), the NASDAQ could be off to the races as early as next week. When a stock’s PCR (put-to-call ratio) climbs above 1, it indicates that the market is oversold and a reversal is pending. When a PCR gets up to 2 or even 3, panic is setting in.

NEW YORK, Mar 31, 2005 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- Stocks are expected to open slightly lower Thursday, as investors may take some money off the table after Wednesday's 135-point rally by the Dow Jones industrial average.
Another indicator that may move the market is Thursday's jobless claims report from the Labor Department. Economists expect jobless claims to drop by 4,000 to 320,000 for the week ended March 26.
The Commerce Department will release the personal income and spending report for February at the same time, and economists look for a 0.4 percent increase in personal income and a 0.5 percent gain in personal consumption expenditures.
Dow Jones futures were recently down 8 points, Nasdaq futures were ahead 1 point, and S&P futures were down 0.9 points.

U.S. March jobs update seen setting the tone

LONDON (MarketWatch) - U.S. stock futures were holding moderate gains on Friday, taking support from the steady performance in European and Asian equities as dealers await the U.S. March jobs growth report.
The key monthly update is expected to set a more definitive tone for the markets. Expectations for a strong payrolls report were scaled back on Thursday after the jump in weekly jobless claims disappointed.
The consensus forecast of Wall Street economists is for payroll gains of 221,000 for March, with average hourly pay rising 0.2 percent. See Economic Calendar.
The Dow industrials futures were up 30 points at 10,550 ahead of 7 a.m. Eastern. The Nasdaq futures were up 7.50 points. Continental European and British stocks were higher amid a rally in the mining and oil company stocks with crude oil prices staying well above a $55 a barrel. |
